Sally Ride Science Camps for Girls
Grades 4-9
In partnership with astronaut Sally Ride, we offer summer science camps for girls, where young scientists have access to:
- an exclusive curriculum designed by Sally Ride Sciences experienced team of educators
- a supportive girls-only environment
- lots of hands-on learning activities and experiments
- three "major" subjects to choose from during camp Astronomy, Marine Science and Robotics
Summer Focus at Berkeley
Earn college credit while you are in high school! At Summer Focus students will:
- take a UC Berkeley while living in a structured and supervised dorm environment
- received tutoring and residential support from experienced Resident Advisors
- get to choose supplemental elective courses, including College Level Writing and Kaplan SAT prep, and other enrichment courses that are taught by our experienced faculty
Getting Ready for College?
Prep Camp Excel
Grades 9-10
Prep Camp Excel prepares students for college by giving them the tools they need to succeed to their full potential in high school, including:
- Academic essay writing skills
- Test-taking practice and training (including full-length PSAT practice tests)
- Study skills and presentation skills to improve classroom performance
College Admission Prep Camp
Grades 11-12
This 11-day program helps students succeed in the increasingly competitive and often mystifying college admission process. Students will take seminars in:
- Market-leading SAT Preparation by Test Scholars, with historical score improvements of nearly 200 points
- Personal Statement Instruction to help create a powerful and effective application
- High-level College Counseling to create a list of "best-fit" schools
CAPC Intensive
Grades 11-12
CAPC Intensive is an extreme version of our College Admission Prep Camp! Over the course of 18 days, students will:
- Complete Kaplans renowned SAT prep course, including 5 full-length practice exams and a score-improvement guarantee
- Develop three personal statements for a maximum-effect college application
- Create a "best-fit" list of schools in consultation with two expert college counselors
- Visit the campuses of several prominent universities and experience a day-long whitewater rafting adventure
A+ Summer
Grades 6-12
Our unique A+ Summer program series seeks to inspire and engage advanced students in the critical thinking skills that are necessary for success in middle school, high school, and college.
- A+ Summer Middle School challenges 6th 8th grade students to design and execute their own solution to contemporary problems, as they explore their potential as inventors, detectives and strategists
- A+ Summer High School provides 9th and 10th graders with courses in advanced argumentative writing, critical reading, and logical puzzles and games
- A+ Summer College readies 11th and 12th grade students for meaningful college-level assignments by providing them with the tools to craft advanced research projects of their own choosing
East Coast College Tour
Grades 10-12
This chaperoned trip allows students to:
- Visit 10 prestigious colleges over the course of 7 days
- Get a great mix of education and culture while traveling in a comfortable and supervised environment
- Choose to visit colleges such as Harvard, Georgetown, MIT, and Columbia, along with many others
- Benefit from the guidance and advice of admissions officers, college students, and recent graduates

Guide to our Communications, Arts and Technology Programs
Public Speaking Institute
Grades 4-12
Designed to help students build confidence in their presentation skills, our Public Speaking Institute trains students in public speaking, logic, and rhetoric through an interactive and dynamic curriculum that encourages incremental progress through ongoing practices and exercises.
Advanced Public Speaking Institute
Grades 9-12
The Advanced Public Speaking Institute is designed for high school students who are already fairly comfortable speaking in public, including most students who have attended prior sessions of the Public Speaking Institute. Campers construct their own personal program by choosing from a variety of advanced elective classes.
American Legal Experience
Grades 9-12
A special session of the Public Speaking Institute, the American Legal Experience uses mock trial activities as a fun and challenging way for students to learn public speaking skills and become better speakers and critical thinkers.
Elementary Education
Grades 4-6
A special session of the Public Speaking Institute and Computer Camp that is designed to meet the needs of entering 4th - 6th graders, the Elementary Education program provides a "survey" of various topics so that students both better understand and are better able to use computers.
Emerging Writers Institute
Grades 10-12
This new program is designed to develop and support students imaginative writing of poetry, plays, fiction, and nonfiction. Students will be encouraged to challenge themselves technically and artistically through guided daily writing workshops, one-on-one instructor evaluations, group editing sessions, and creative presentations of their work.
California Actors Workshop
Grades 7-12
A studio theater program held at UC Berkeley, the California Actors Workshop focuses on the development of the skills young actors need to succeed in theater. Three different programs are offered: Intensive, High School, and Middle School.
Video Production
Grades 7-12
Video Production camp offers students the unique opportunity to develop multimedia production skills including scripting for video, lighting, directing, shooting, editing and special effects. Our staff of highly experienced working professionals also have a background in education, and provide a program that is perfect for students who are experienced in digital filmmaking, as well as for beginners.
Computer Camp
Grades 4-12
The Computer Camp offers specialized sessions of Advanced Web Design and JAVA programming. Students receive hands-on instruction about advanced computer topics and receive training in practical and creative computer skills. The special topic sessions allow students to progress rapidly and leave camp with a sense of mastery in their chosen subjects.
